Had a great weekend.
Laura got in around 11 am on Saturday and we started the day with a trip to Redmill after which we visited the two sites she was interested in for her thesis. The first was the Chapel of St. Ignatius at Seattle University. The architect, whose name now escapes me, used light in some very interesting ways. As a side note, I found it ironic that the reflecting pool in front of the chapel (very much part of the chapel's design) had been turned into a wishing well complete with plenty of pennies (and the occasional nickels and dimes) strewed across the bottom. It seems to me that wishing wells aren't exaclty a Catholic thing...
Our next stop was a Turrell Skyspace at the Henry Museum at UW. The Seattle Weekly ran a piece on it so I'll let them explain it:

After spending time in the Skyspace we checked out the rest of the museum and saw an interesting exhibit on film, among other things.
Saturday night we went to Shar's sister's place for dinner followed by Chop Stix, a "dueling piano bar" in Queen Anne.
We spent much of Sunday out on the water. No wind, so we never even hoisted the main sail, but it was relaxing.
Sopranos was excellent as always, and at around 10:30 I drove Laura back to the airport.
It was great to spend a weekend w/ her.
